Just wondering what types of food you eat for Christmas?
Hi,
We don't celebrate Christmas, but the New Year is special for us:) We
mostly cook chicken in the oven and Icli Pilaf on the side for New
Years eve. We love to fill our table with appetizers:) This year we also have festive (Kurban Bayrami) in the New Year. That's why I think Turkish women may cook beef or lamb this year:) Every festive time I post Bayram meals. This year over the second half of December I am going to post Bayram meals during the week. It includes soup, main dish and dessert.
I already started posting appetizers for New Year's eve.

Hi there can you help? Im trying to locate a recipe that some friends of ours cooked for us, I believe its a turkish recipe called 'Margarena'?? Dont quote me on that name though! If I describe it you might be aware of it.. Its mainly pasta shells, mixed with a tomato sauce thats kind of spicey with minced meat. Its got veggies in it. Its got a topping to it and its like a scrambled egg thing with cheeses through it. Many thanks! :)
Hi,
The name is definitely not a Turkish name:) Seems to me it is pasta with ground beef, with melted cheese on it. Boil the pasta until it gets softened and drain. Meanwhile, cook medium ground beef with onion (chopped or sliced) until the colour turns to light brown. Add chopped green pepper, diced tomato and crushed tomato (canned), cook for about 15-20 minutes. Season with crushed red pepper, salt and pepper. Place
some sliced hard feta or Havarti cheese on top, stir, wait until the
cheese melts a bit, toss with the pasta. I hope this recipe works for
you:)

Merhaba Binnur,
cok tesekkur ederiz about this great website. I am original turkish-Palestenian who lives in US for about 10 years, along with my husband who is from Turkey. We enjoyed these very delicious Turkish Recipes very much along with our friends and families, especially during the month of Ramadan, since when fasting and feeling hungry we can not stop thinking about what to prepare for iftar and seeing all these delicious meals I just was encouraged to make all the recipes at once to enjoy them when breaking the fast, but my energy ran out quickly :) I just discovered this website just this month and I loved it. Thank you and your daughter for doing such an outstanding job :)
Merhaba Binnur,

Hi,
The most of the recipes that I've posted say "how many servings they are" :)
wow, your recipes are amazing! we have similar food, and we drink ayran too ;)
regards form Serbia :)
Wonderful site. My only question is that you don't seem to specify many spices, eg Bahari and sumak etc...Is it because you are making the the English version of the site more to English taste? I would love to read more about the spices used and where to include them.. Thanks for the great work.
Hi,
Thank you:) The Turkish kitchen doesn't use heavy spices in the dishes. Therefore, you will not find many spices in the recipes.
I've been posting the Turkish dishes to introduce them to the world and using English as the most common language:)
On the site, below the google ads on the right, there's a search box. So you can search on my site if "TC" is selected, it will help you to find any recipe that I have posted. You can also search the word of any vegetable or meat or the region or spice etc.
