Merhaba Binnur.
I was wondering if there is any Turkish yemegi with chicken and yesil fasulye...or string beans. I make one version at home that my husband likes but I am not very satisfied by it personally.
Thanks
Merhaba Newbi,
We don't usually cook green beans with chicken. We usually like it with lamb cubes, or ground beef or with olive oil as a cold dish:) I already posted Flat Beans with Lamb. If you like use chicken instead of lamb.
Here is the address:

great site with some fantastic recipes i went to a turkish restaurant recently and had a chicken dish made with almonds, honey, apricots etc i cant remember what it was called but it would be good if you could find something for me? thanks x
Hi there. Thanks for posting so many wonderful Turkish recipes. I am an American woman engaged to a Turkish man, so naturally I want to learn to cook the things he likes to eat. It's great to find so many great recipes in one place!
I am wondering about a dish that some of his relatives make. It's more of a side dish or a sandwich. It involves one layer of a bread (like a thick gozleme dough) with chicken and potatoes, etc., in the middle, then a top layer of bread. This is baked then cut into squares and served in a stack to compliment the meal. Have you heard of this? His family lives in Istanbul, but they originate from the Malatya region and I think the recipe is from their village. I would love to learn how to make it...
Thanks Again,
Tanya
Hi Tanya,
Thank you for the nice comment:)
I think what you are asking is "Sac Boregi". The dough looks like a
thick Gozleme and the filling may be different things. Like spinach
and ground beef, cheese, or potato...and the name will have the
filling in it. Like "Patatesli Borek" (potato borek)...... I'll post
it soon for you:)
Take care,
Can you possibly also post the recipe of the Cerkez Tavugu?
thanks
Cuneyt
Hi Cuneyt,
I've already post it, here is the address;

Sevgilerimle,
Merhaba Binnur,
Thanks for delicious Turkish recipes.
Merhaba Binnur
My name is Amanda and my husband is Turkish. Your meals have saved me and I surprise my husband with every meal. Thank you for opening up my mind and my kitchen to a different flavor of food and giving me the power to know that i can cook!!! HAHA!! Thank 4 everything!!
Does anyone have a recipie for tavuk dolmasi. Chicken stuffed with feta, mushrooms, and spinach. It also had a lovely raspberry burgundy wine sauce over it. Had it at a lovely turkish restaurant in Madison Wi. Thanks
Just wonder if anyone has a tavuk guvec recipe. I loved this dish so much down in Sarimsakli at the Onbes Kardesler restaurant that sometimes I ordered it two times a day, for lunch and dinner. I could live on that casserole. It was so good!
SO GLAD to have found your site! When I lived in Izmir as a teenager, we used to have donors almost every day for lunch. The chicken ones would always have this awesome hot red pepper you could put on them--do you know what that was? It would make my day if i could recreate that experience completely!
THANKS!
Hi,
Is it Chicken Doner? If it is I've already posted it under the Chicken and Kebabs sections:)
On the site, below the google ads on the right, there's a search box.
So you can search on my site if "TC" is selected, it will help you to
find any recipe that I have posted.
Take care,
We have a Turkish restaurant in our small town and the food is wonderful, especially the Shepherd's salad. My daughter just tried the one on your site and it came out as good as the one in the restaurant. Do you have a recipe for "Yogurtlu Tavuk" which is layers of chicken, fried bread and garlic yogurt. Thank you.
Hi,
There may be variations to the recipes even with the same name and slightly different from region to region. Therefore it is difficult to identify which one exactly you are asking for because marinade ingredients can be different. The cooking style of chicken also be different.I am going to post it in the future:)
i am a chinese cooker .i want to make a turkish food party .i need your help .thank you
Please check Meal Ideas section. I've also posted some Meal Ideas under the Mean Dishes:)
HI
I am trying to find an old recipie I had. It is for chicken breast stuffed with pistachios that I think had been soaked in Raki or served with a Raki sauce. It was an unusual Turkish dish, and I can't find the recipie anywhere now. Do you have any idea what this dish is? Teşekkür ederim
Selma
Merhaba Selma,
I am going to post it in the future:)

I very much enjoyed a Turkish stuffed chicken last week while in Dalyan. The chicken was filled with some kind of rice-based stuffing which was very flavourful. Do you perhaps have a recipe for this?
John
Hi John,
There is few recipes for stuffed chicken with the different kind of stuffing. I am going to post them in the future:)
Hello Binnur,
I was stationed at Incirlik AB and enjoy the food at the Red Onion. They served a chicken dish that theu called the Charlie Special which had a tomato base with potatos. Any idea what it was or have a recipe for it?
Thanks, Eric
Hi Eric,
It seems very simple chicken-potato dish cooked with fresh tomato or tomato paste:) I've already posted so many potato dishes. One of them is Chicken with Potato. Here is the address;

Merhaba Binnur,
I'd like to make something like the Istanbul Pilavi for my daughter's wedding using whole chicken. Is there a variation for larger batches?
Merhaba,
You should use only the chicken breast as in the recipe. You can multiply it if you wish:)
Salaam,
When I used to live in Saudi Arabia we used to enjoy Iskandria (BBQ chicken and bread soaked in tomato sauce with yoghurt topping) from Turkish cuisine. I tried to find this recipe but I think it goes with some other name. Can u help me please?
Thanks
Nausheen
Selam Nausheen,

Thank you so much for this site.
I have just come back from holiday in Turkey. I had lunch with several turkish families and just loved the food. I am asian in origin and although our food is similar I didnt know how to cook the tasty wholesome food.
I have just cooked my favorite meat and egg plant dish with turkish pilaf and it was amazing.
Thank you so much.

Hi,
Please check "Kebabs" section on the right side of my blog:)
Thank you so much for this site. I am pregnant with twin boys and crave nothing but Turkish food and Ayran (which I couldn't palate prior to my pregnancy and now I can't get enough). Since I live in a small Northern community there are no Turkish restaurants here this site has been a real gift, and have saved me from some real cranky moments!!!
Hi Binnur
As I see you have a lot of good chicken recipes from Turkish cousine.
I wonder If you give me the recipe of chicken breast as a dessert?
Thanks
V.
Hi V,
I've already posted the easy version of it under the Dairy Desserts. Here is the address;
http://www.turkishcookbook.com/2006/06/creamy-pudding.php
Merhaba Binnur,
I visited Turkey last year and fell in love with the country. One of my favorite dishes was tavuk guvec. Do you have a recipe for this you could post? I cannot find a good recipe online anywhere and would appreciate it so much if you could post something. I am looking forward to trying your recipes. Thank you for posting them!
Sonja
@Eric I too was stationed at Incirlik. I believe you are talking about "chicken tava". It consisted of chicken, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tons of garlic in a tomato sauce that could vary in spiciness and was out over rice. Yum!
Merhaba Binnur,
Once, while in Mercin, I tried a dish that looked like cucumbers soaking in milk with fresh herbs. It was fantastic! What is this called and do you have a recipe for it?
Merhaba,
As you probably know there is a wide variety in Turkish cuisine:) Therefore, I am not sure about the ingredients. Was it cucumber or zucchini? Was it milk or yogurt? Was it side dish or cold soup or dip? If you can clarify these, I would love to help you:)
Hi, A few years ago I was traveling and ate at what I believe was a Turkish restaurant. They had an amazing dish with chicken, rice and covered in melted cheese. It was baked in a cast iron type dish. I am not sure if it was an authentic Turkish dish but I loved it and would love to learn a similar recipe. Please help if you know what this is. LOVE your website!!
SHawna
Hi SHawna,
Thank you:) Sounds delicious! I am not sure exactly what it is, but it seems a mixture of Pilaf and Chicken Saute with Mozzarella Cheese:)
here is the link;

Take care,
Any recipes using chicken and spinach that is not a roulade?
Hi Binnur,
I have found your website to be absolutely wonderful. I, like one or two other people, have found yours to be the only site which has "proper" recipes on.
Please can you advise me on one query I have; I notice that there are some recipes which don't appear to be in the lists, such as the one for chicken with walnuts. How do I find archived recipes? I love Turkish food, but don't always know what I'm looking for. As I only use your website now to find Turkish recipes, I would hate to miss out on any that I can't find through my ignorance.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you,
Louise.
P.s: do you have a recipe for 'village sauce'? I believe it is a very garlicky yogurt sauce.
Thank you Louise:)
It is listed on the 'Appetizers' section but I am going to add it on the 'Chickens' section as well:)
I would suggest that you use the google search box on the right site of my blog, just below the google ads. When you select "TC", it will help you find all the recipes I have posted. You can also search for the word of any region, pilafs, vegetables, herbs, spices, meat, etc.
The recipe of Garlic Yogurt Sauce is in so many recipes:) Here is the recipe for you:
Garlic Yogurt (Sarımsaklı Yoğurt):
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1-2 garlic cloves, mashed with salt
Take care,
Binnur
selam binnur abla i just wonder do you have tavuk guvec recipe?
Selam Christa,
I have not posted any chicken recipe under the name of Tavuk Guvec but Chicken Tava is similar. It can be cooked on the stove or in the oven.
Chicken Tava (Tavuk Tava, Adana region)
http://english.turkishcookbook.com/2007/11/chicken-tava.html
Hi, nice site. I was wondering if you had a recipe for "tavuk elbasan" I really like the version of the dish with purée potatoes, spinach, and a Béchamel sauce. Thanks!
