Chop Shish

(Çöp Şiş)

Chop Shish
Lamb, as required, cut in small pieces
Cubanelle pepper
Red Bell pepper
Tomato
Onion, cut in 6 pieces
Salt
Pepper

Season the lamb cubes with salt & pepper and arrange them on the skewers.

Preheat your barbecue or oven (grill/broil). Place the skewers on the rack and cook each side for 4-5 minutes. Flip them 2-3 times while they cook.

Serve Chop Shish with grilled pepper, tomatoes and onion. You can also serve Chop Shish inside the Turkish bread or pide.

* Dip the wood skewers in water first to prevent burning.

This was just the dish my brother-in-law was telling me about, when he visited us in Sweden. "Garbage-shish" ;)

Hi,
Some of the words have more than one meaning in Turkish language as in many languages.
Çöp is one of them. One of the meanings is trash (garbage) as you said. The other one which gives the name to the dish is chip of wood (small wooden sticks). We use metal shish to make our kebabs. But this one has to be arranged on the Çöp (chip of wood) ones.
I mean the name of the kebab is Chip of Wood Shish not Trash Shish.
It looks like misinformation has been given to you, unless it is a joke:)
Take care,
