Turkish Ricotta Dessert

(Lor Tatlisi - Aegean Region)

<br />Turkish Ricotta Dessert
1 pkg 475 gr Ricotta Cheese, unsalted
1/3 cup flour, all purpose

Syrup:

1 3/4 cup water
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice

Mix the cheese with flour in a bowl using tablespoon. Make chestnut sized balls with your hands. Put parchment paper on an oven tray and arrange them on it.

Preheat the oven to 325 F (165 C) and bake for about 50-55 minutes until the colour of the top turns golden.

To prepare the syrup place the water and sugar in a medium sized pot. First bring to a boil and continue boiling for 5 minutes. Then simmer for 15 minutes and turn the heat off. Add the lemon juice, stir.

Immediately pour the warm syrup all over them. Let cool down first. Serve Ricotta Dessert with Thick Turkish Cream (Kaymak) on the top. If you like you may also use fresh&thick Double Cream 40% instead of Kaymak

Hi Mae,
It seems like a perfect menu for me:) Turks says; to the woman who cooked all the delicious dishes for thanking her, "Eline saglik" means "health to your hands". I'd love to say to you too:)

Hi,

I tried this tatli on bayram and was so amazad at how simple the recipe was. I kept reading the ingredients thinking there might be more to it but there wasn't. It was quick and very tasty too. Definitly will try this again! Thanks Binnur for making my bayram dessert a success!!

Hi Binnur,
I brought the vegetables to our family gathering for the night before Thanksgiving, and everyone really liked them. Again thank you for the great recipes!

Is there supposed to be extra syrup? I had a lot. I added more lemon and some orange blossom water to the syrup they were yummy and so easy to make! My three year old wanted to eat them all! Thanks!

Hi Safiyyah,
The following day there will be less syrup because the dessert will absorb more syrup. But if you think the syrup is too much you can always spoon out some:)

Hi Binnur,
Lovely dessert, very popular with my friends, I blended the cheese and flour in my mini-food processor, the outcome was a much smoother texture.

Hello, Binnur.

This recipe looks so lovely but when I prepared it, it was a disaster. I followed the instructions but the "balls" flattened in the oven. Any idea why?

Thanks.

Merhaba Binnur,

do I get it right?! No eggs? Just the cheese and flour? Nothing else? :) doesn't it fall apart?

Merhaba Aylin,
Yes, that's correct:) If you look at the comments of this recipe, you will see that there was no problem in making these perfect cheese balls with the given ingredients:)

Well, allright :) I was a little bit confused about the two ingredients only because I know this recipe with butter and eggs. And the little flour wich makes 40grams I guess irritated me additionally :) I will try it one day. Thank you :)

Dear Aylin,
Lor Tatlisi is a soft, silky and puffy dessert. If you add butter and eggs in this recipe, the texture will entirely change as the ingredients will require more flour. So it will be like kurabiye in syrup:)
Take care,
