Turkish Cheese Bread with Spicy Garlic Sauce

(Sarimsakli, Tereyag Soslu Peynirli Ekmek - Adana)

Turkish Cheese Bread with Spicy Garlic Sauce
Bread or Pizza Dough
Plain Yogurt
Turkish Kashar or mozzarella cheese, grated

Spicy Garlic Sauce:

3-4 tbsp butter
1-2 garlic cloves, sliced
1 tsp paprika

Break the dough in egg-size pieces. Flatten the dough pieces using a roller. Apply the yogurt on the dough. Spread the Turkish Kashar or mozzarella cheese over the top. Place the parchment paper on an oven tray and arrange on it.

Preheat the oven to 500 F (250 C). Place the tray on the middle rack and bake for 12-13 minutes. When the top turns to light golden colour, remove it from the oven.

Meanwhile prepare the Spicy Garlic Sauce; Melt the butter in a small sauce pan and add in the sliced garlic. Then, add the red pepper. When it starts bubbling, pour one tablespoon over the freshly baked Turkish Cheese Bread.

If you like to make this pide from the scratch, here:)

I tried this recipe and it was delicious... There was no specific amount for the ingredients, so I just put 1 tbsp yogurt and about 2 tbsp butter, and the whole thing turned out absolutely delicious!
Thanks Binnur :)

this recipe could have been named sarimsakli ekmek because of the indication for the garlic,it reminds me of garlic bread but its red and looks better:))greets

I was stationed at Incrilik AB, is this the same cheese bread that they would serve in the village? I love that bread. We would go out everyday and get some!

Also, I bought your book from Amazon.com, Does your book contain all of these recipes?

Merhaba:)
It is probably the same cheese bread:)
The sales of my book started on December 13, 2007. There are 115
English recipes (already posted on the website) in the book. They were
all posted from the beginning to the end of 2007. The recipes for the
last 4 1/2 years are not included in the book:)

Hello! This recipe looks great. Exactly how much yogurt do I have to use? Do I have to break the bread into separate pieces, or can I leave it as a whole?

Hi Sara,
Spread on a couple tablespoons of the yogurt each pide:)
Break the dough in egg size pieces. Flatten the dough pieces using a roller....
Take care,
